The Black Stars’ dismal performance at the current 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar has prompted Thomas Partey to speak out.
Many Ghanaians have criticized the reliable midfielder for failing to live up to expectations. He plays for English powerhouse Arsenal.
The 29-year-old showed his appreciation for Ghanaians’ steadfast support in a fresh message he uploaded on Facebook after the squad was eliminated from the competition.
He asserted that their first priority was to provide Ghanaians a cause for celebration, but that when Uruguay defeated the Black Stars, things didn’t go as planned.
“Our goal was to offer Ghanaians something to be happy about, but sadly, things didn’t turn out the way we had hoped. I want to express my sincere gratitude for the unwavering support I have received both at home and abroad. We shall recover stronger thanks to God’s help,” his message states.
