President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended gratitude to the Ashanti people for their support in his re-election to a second term.

“Without your votes and support, I don’t think I would have won the election,” the President said in Twi on the first leg of his four-day tour of the region.
With over 1.7 million votes, the Ashanti Region delivered the President his greatest number of votes in the 2020 presidential election.
“The last election was stunning,” he added, adding that he had always known the region to be the ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) safest bet.
President Akufo-Addo stated that he had traveled to the region to guarantee that the programs he promised the people were carried out.
“Thank you, Asanteman; thank you, Otumfuo (Asante kingdom’s Overlord) for all your votes and support,” he remarked.
Otumfuo’s advice
Despite the global issues, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, advised the President to “work hard, kill yourself to prove to the people that the promises you made during the electioneering were not lies.”
Speaking in Twi as well, the Asantehene urged the President to stay focused and deliver on his promises.
