President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo presented 40 Jeep J8 vehicles, six Toyota Hi-ace minibuses, and 14 Toyota Hilux pick-ups to the Armed Forces on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, to aid in the containment of security threats posed by extremist groups operating along the country’s northern borders, as well as to assist the Army in dealing with internal security challenges.
The President also visited the Ghana Military Academy Infrastructure Upgrade project site, where he cut the sod on July 4th, 2019. The Cadet Mess, the Square, and the lecture rooms have all been finished.
The Administration Block is 95 percent finished, and the contractor is nearing completion on the outside work. The Cadet Hostel, which has a capacity of 246 students, and the Platoon Commander’s Block are both about 65 percent complete.
The President once again observed the progress of the seven-story Army Headquarters Office Complex, which is also on schedule.
Nana Akufo-Addo revealed that the project will cost the taxpayer GHS33 million.
He also cut the sod for the start of work on the $24.8 million military housing project. u
