With an invitation from Vice President Joe Biden, President Akufo-Addo has led a Ghanaian team to the US-Africa Leaders’ Summit.



According to a statement released by the Presidency, he departed Ghana on December 11th, 2022.

A “demonstration of the United States’ continuing commitment to Africa” is what the summit is meant to do, it stated.
According to the announcement, the summit will also highlight the significance of U.S.-Africa relations and enhanced collaboration on common global objectives.

Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, the First Lady, Minister for Foreign Affairs Shirley Ayorkor Botchey, Minister for Trade and Industry Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Minister for Works and Housing Francis Asenso Boakye, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, and officials from the Presidency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were all present with the President.
In the meanwhile, the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, would serve as President in compliance with Article 60(8) of the Constitution until the President’s return to Ghana on December 17th, 2022.
