President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo left Ghana on Monday for Praia, Cape Verde, to attend the inauguration of Jose Maria Neves, the West African nation’s President-elect.



In his capacity as Chairperson of the Economic Community of West African States, the President is present at the ceremony (ECOWAS).
Mr. Neves, a 61-year-old former Prime Minister who served from 2000 to 2016, was elected president of Cape Verde in October.
On November 9, 2021, President Akufo-Addo will return to Ghana.
Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei Opare, and other senior government officials and service chiefs escorted him to the airport.
In his absence, Vice President Bawumia will take over.
