A 65-year-old suspected illegal arms dealer was also apprehended as part of the operation.
Bukari Salifu, an arms dealer who is said to be the suspects’ financier and weapon supplier, was apprehended in Zenu, near Ashiaman.
According to a statement signed and issued by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mr Kwesi Ofori, the Acting Director General of Police Public Affairs Directorate, the police were forced to shoot two suspected robbers on Saturday, September 25, 2021, who later died on admission to the hospital.
The suspected robbers were first apprehended while attempting to rob motorists along the Koluedor – Sege — Accra main road, he explained.
Some of their accomplices are said to have eluded capture.
When the police interrogated the suspects after their arrest, they mentioned Bukari Salifu as the person who provides them with weapons for their robbery missions.
According to the police, the two suspects led a crime-combat police team to their alleged accomplices’ hideout in a bush near Zenu under the guise of assisting the police in retrieving weapons and apprehending their other accomplices, who had fled the scene.

Their bodies were deposited in the same hospital’s morgue.
The arrest of the weapon supplier, Bukari Salifu, was based on police intelligence, according to the statement.
The police have since retrieved a Blow F9-22 pistol, a locally manufactured pistol, and two motorcycles, according to the report.
Meanwhile, the police said they were pursuing the fleeing suspects and that they “wish to serve notice that criminals cannot and will not win in any battle against the police.”
