The National Service Scheme (NSS) administration has suspended Alex Opoku-Mensah, the Ashanti regional director, for two months without pay following an argument with a nurse at the Manhyia Government Hospital in late November 2022.

Reason for the suspension
Omens was filmed after involved in a misunderstanding between a female nurse on duty and a doctor identified as his daughter.
When the video became public, he was sidelined to allow for an internal inquiry.

According to a letter dated December 23, 2022 and issued to Opoku-Mensah, the commission of inquiry recommended the two-month suspension without pay.
“You are to report to the main office to work under supervision after the suspension,” NSS executive director Osei Assibey Antwi said in a letter obtained by Asaaseradio.com.
“You are also to offer an official apology to the National Service Scheme for bringing the scheme’s name into discredit within seven days of receipt of this notification,” the letter continued.
Over 360 nurses and midwives at Manhyia District Hospital went on strike on 2 December 2022 over the issue, to press for the dismissal of Opoku-Mensah, for allegedly abusing their colleague.The strike was called off a few days later after government officials intervened.
