PSG, whose lead at the top of Ligue 1 has been reduced to four points, now concentrates on the Coupe de France, which they have won six out of the past eight years.
They were, however, unable to advance further in last season’s playoffs after being ousted by Nice on penalties in the fifth round.
Additionally, manager Maxence Flachez’s team is now in 14th position in the third-tier standings, just one spot and two points above the relegation zone. Flachez played for teams like Lyon and Sochaux throughout his playing career.
Chateauroux has only ever competed in one Ligue 1 season (1997-98), and they have only ever lost to PSG in the Coupe de France final. This was the last time they faced the Parisian superpower.
