KNUST police have launched an inquiry into the deaths of two siblings whose bodies were discovered floating in an abandoned swimming pool in the Ashanti Region’s Appiadu New site.
Belinda Idan, three, and Olivia Konadu Idan, one year and eight months old, have been identified as the deceased.
The father of the slain minors, a 28-year-old steel bender named Abadu Idan, was believed to be sleeping with the children on
October 6, 2021, but could not find them when he awoke.
During a search of the house, he subsequently discovered the youngsters floating in the abandoned swimming pool.
After the Assembly Member for Appiadu Kokoben submitted a complaint, police officers were summoned to the house and discovered the children’s lifeless bodies.
The minors’ bodies have already been deposited to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where they will be autopsied.
KNUST District Police Commander, Superintendent Frederick Hammond, informed Citi News that the matter is being investigated.
“Someone awoke and discovered his children in the swimming pool. So he just went and scooped them out of the water, and because it’s an unnatural death, an inquest is held, and the police are called in to determine the cause of death.
