David Adeleke, commonly known as Davido, a popular Nigerian singer, revealed in an interview with CNN that he did not solicit for public donations.
As previously reported by Naija News, the musician had urged his friends and those to whom he had given a hit song to donate money to him ahead of his birthday. In less than three days, the BMW CEO received more than 200 million dollars in response to his appeal.
After amassing donations from friends, fans, and well-wishers, Davido chose to donate the money to orphanages around Nigeria, along with a personal contribution of $50 million.
Davido recently told CNN that he never sought for a public donation, instead preferring for his pals to give him money as a birthday present.

The singer also stated that he was quite surprised at the amount he got because he was not truly expecting people to give as much as they did.
