Sulemana Abdul Samed, 29, was recently examined by a local hospital in northern Ghana, which informed him that he had grown to a height of 9 feet 6 inches (2.89m).
He would now be the tallest man in Ghana, but there was a problem: the rural clinic lacked the necessary measuring equipment to accurately determine his height.
Following the incident, a BBC reporter took his height and discovered that he was 7ft 4in – shorter than the Ethiopian.
Other Ethiopians have in the past claimed to be taller than Mr. Negewo but later discovered this to be untrue.
