David Ayensu, a GHC-5 cab driver, was sentenced to two years in jail for attempting to bribe a police officer.

It is common knowledge that some drivers bribe police officials with money when they are caught breaking the law.
However, it seems that luck escaped this motorist when he was apprehended by a Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) member of the Ghana Police Service.
According to reports, the motorist attempted to bribe the police officer with GHc5.
When the police pulled him over, he was driving with an expired driver’s license.In an interview with Crime Check ,he stated:
“Because my renewed license was taken by another officer, I was forced to use an old one.” When the police removed the expired license, I immediately pulled out Ghc 5 and placed it in an AMA operative card, which I provided to him.”

The motorist informed the Crime Check officer that after the police officer refused the payment, he raced away, but the second officer pursued him.
The second officer pursued me on a motorcycle, but I refused to stop, even though other people urged me to. “I crossed the yellow light just as the police came up with me,” he said.
“I was fined one thousand eight hundred Ghana cedis, but I was unable to pay.” I was imprisoned in Ankaful Main Prison for two years.”
