The narration of the sad story
The fire erupted at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2021, according to eyewitnesses. What caused the fire, on the other hand, remained a mystery.
According to other eyewitnesses, the crew came late after making many phone calls.
“We contacted the [Ghana National] Fire Service when the fire erupted, but no one answered.” They arrived late to the scene. “We tried all we could to save a woman who was laying in one of the rooms, but our efforts were in vain,” one eyewitness said.
The owner claims he awoke to yells and screams from tenants pleading for rescue. He arrived on the scene soon and noticed billows of smoke pouring from one of the rooms.

“I was in my room when I heard the sound of a gas cylinder exploding.” When I walked out, there was smoke everywhere, so I gathered the other tenants and we attempted to rescue those who were stuck in the rooms.
Some of them were rescued via the window, but one mother and her daughter remained in their room. “We were unable to save them in time,” the Landlord explained.
Henry Kwofie, the Municipal Director for the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in Effia-Kwesimintsim, revealed that four people had died thus far, with others being treated at the hospital.
“A mother, father, their daughter, and a grandson are among the deceased.” When the fire broke out, the daughter, a nurse, was visiting her mother with her child after work. They were stuck in the bedroom and were unable to escape. Mr. Kwofie explained, “We first saved the spouse, but he died later at the hospital.”
