According to Myjoyonline.com, the suspect, Pius Osei Kankam, had a disagreement with the dead over why he proposed to his girlfriend.
“They battled over the girl.” Buckman, the suspect, is not from here; he resides in Praso, the next town over. “He came here with the goal of murdering him, which is why he was carrying a knife,” a resident told JoyNews.
“Buckman proposed to his girlfriend, therefore yesterday [Sunday, December 26] the girl identified him as the suspect, which sparked the argument,” he explained.
The two were among a group of revellers who went on a Boxing Day drinking spree at a nearby establishment at Dwease, near Konongo in the Ashanti Region
Kofi Mensah, the deceased’s father, is heartbroken by the event that resulted in his son’s death.
“We were home when I was told that my kid had been stabbed,”
he told JoyNews of the events that led to his son’s death. He had been transported to the hospital when I arrived. On arrival, he was pronounced dead. “I’ve been weeping all night.”
The culprit, as well as the lady at the centre of the dispute, are in the hands of Konongo Police. On Boxing Day, a man stabs another man to death for proposing to his girlfriend.
The pair are supporting authorities with their inquiries.
