Eight female pupils from the Chiana Senior High School in the Kassena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region have been expelled by the Ghana Education Service (GES) for uttering disparaging remarks against President Nana Akufo-Addo.

According to the GES statement, second-year students attacked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a trending video late last year using coarse and unprintable language.
An investigation into the incident led to the discharge of the pupils. The pupils had been suspended before being expelled.

The GES described the students’ behavior in the letter dismissing them as extremely unwelcome and against the acceptable standards of conduct typically expected of any student in Ghana’s educational system.
