The Ghana Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested four men for alleged robbery and rape of women in Adenta and its environs.
Ebenezer Amakye Adom, 30, the mastermind behind the crime; Paul Nyamelor, 23, a Sawmill Operator; Joel Alornyeku, 27, a refrigerator repairer; and Ebenezer Tawiah, 29, a trader are among the suspects.

Daniel Tawiah, the fifth suspect, is currently on the run and being pursued by the police. They are accused of using an Instagram account called “Phone Shop” to entice women interested in modelling for the company to attend a photoshoot.
Women who indicated interest were led to a thicket where the photograph was supposed to take place, but they were raped when the guys had sex with them without their will. They were also forced to provide their mobile phone passwords and MobileMoney PINs. The suspects then transferred money from the victims’ Mobile Money accounts into their own wallets.
Approximately ten victims are now pursuing the case, with one of them claiming to have had Ghc7000 moved from her mobile money wallet and others claiming to have had varying sums transferred from their mobile money wallets.
The arrest of the people
Arrest On Monday, November 8, 2021, police apprehended Ebenezer Amakye Adom based on intelligence. Adom had created the Instagram account “Phone Shop,” which he used to invite ladies to a photoshoot for advertising, it was discovered.
He is claimed to have utilized the modus operandi to entice his victims, whom he and his associates then robbed and raped. Following his arrest, police searched Adom’s room and discovered a desktop computer, a router, and many SIM cards, all of which are suspected to have been utilized by the suspect in his unlawful business.
The three other suspects, Nyamelor, Alornyeku, and Ebenezer Tawiah, were apprehended for their roles in the crimes at Kubekrom, Kpong Katamanso, in the Greater Accra Region. The police warned the public to be aware of social media solicitations and not to accept invitations from strangers.
The public was also asked to conduct due diligence on the social media accounts they follow, ensuring that they only follow verified and safe pages.
